About A4AK

friends for header.jpeg

We believe the arts contribute to a child’s self-esteem; children become more perceptive and communicative.

Grade 2-6

For the past 35 years, Arts For All Kids has been quietly providing FREE fine arts education and exposure for thousands of London-area children, aged 7 through 12, whose families are otherwise unable to afford private arts and music lessons.  Kids choose TWO CLASSES per session: creative writing, visual art, dance, drama, or music (piano, violin, guitar).

We believe children discover their individuality while appreciating the abilities and gifts of others.

  • Who can register?
Underserved children in Grades 2 – 6 whose families cannot afford instruction. This program is for children who are not able to access any extracurricular lessons due to financial constraint. Cubs, Brownies, subsidized swimming are allowed. Parents/guardians of participating students may be required to provide proof of need.
  • How does the program work?
Each registered student is invited to choose two preferred areas of study: 1. Music (piano, violin, or guitar) 2. Drama 3. Dance 4. CreativeWriting 5. Visual Art We run two terms each year. For ten weeks each Fall and ten weeks each Winter the students meet on Mondays from 5:00 – 6:30 pm at the London Food Bank for a group class. Each term includes an Open House with an end-of-term celebratory performance/party where family, friends, and supporters have the opportunity to see the kids in action, sharing the art that they love.

  • Do you provide instruments for home practise?
We do! As a participant in the program, your child is obligated to practise. Only with regular practise will they become proficient. To that end we provide your child with an instrument for home use.
  • I registered my child but I have not heard back. Why?
We will begin contacting registrants closer to the start date of the next session. We cannot place students in classes and arrange teachers until we have a good idea of how many kids will register. Expect to hear from us about 4 weeks prior to the session start date. All of our registrations are time stamped so we are able to use a "first-come-first-served" approach in the event we reach capacity in any class. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
  • Where can I find more details about classes?
